If my uploading is sporadic, it's because I don't have ready access to a connection. I'll try and update as frequently as I can, though.

  • Listening to: Bleeding Out - Korn
  • Reading: 11/22/63 - Stephen King
  • Playing: Deus Ex: Human Revolution

For all the features I missed, which might have been all of three, I apologize. Work and school got in the way; I haven't really had much free time for things, including art, in the last month or so. This is the last day of my premium membership, so the last feature for probably a long time. Most of these are from deviants who I watch with great interest, those that inspire me to continue making art, those who I regularly study to become better.

Thank you.

Smaller feature, I wasn't on much this week to collect things into my favorites. What with school and work, it doesn't leave much free time.

Stephen King's The Tommyknockers is a strange book. But it's a good kind of strange. Worth reading. I found my disc of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, and realized how bad graphics were in 1997. I'm not used to using the D-pad to move, either. Add in the fact that Croc won't turn around when you push back, he'll just walk backwards, and it becomes very frustrating very quickly. I don't know how I almost beat that game when I was younger. Probably had more patience for it back then, because that was all I had to play. And games weren't really the best back then. Except for Spyro. Nothing will ever beat the original Spyro the Dragon. I'm thinking my music taste might be slowly migrating back into metal now that summer's over. It might be that I listen to more techno/electronic stuff during the summer, I don't know.

Almost unhappy because I can't find my old copy of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. Would really like to play right about now. But I have finished God of War III. I figure I must play the first two now, to actually understand what all was going on.

Not much to report on since last Saturday. I finally snagged a green PS3 controller for under $60, after looking everywhere and everywhere was out of stock. Hopefully that'll come in the mail today. I'm beginning God Of War III, and hopefully the difficulty isn't as bad as Dante's Inferno was, or else I'll be switching to easy halfway through again. I've found a plethora of great new music, and most of it is available for download free on Bandcamp. I'm beating my Blue Stahli CD to death in the big Bose speaker system every chance I get. And it sounds beautiful. I'm collecting more and more burns and slices in my fingers from where I work. But it's all good, I love the people I work with.

Well, now that I've become a Twitter user, I'm waiting for the gates of Hell to open or something. I never thought I'd have an account. Especially after I bashed social networking so much. Oh well. Had the most brilliant flash of inspiration while trying to come up with a name. I was thinking of different kinds of pills and medication, and somehow made it to the Excedrin Wikipedia page. My eyes caught the manufacturer name, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and from there, _squibbly was born. Inspiration like that comes once in a lifetime, let me tell you.

If anybody was interested in how I pick the weekly features, I'll enlighten you. Even if you didn't want to know, you'll know now. (They come from my favorites list.) Yes. Make it there, and your work might very well be featured. Or if you grant me wishes or give me great things, then you'll receive a spot.

The Thing prequel + Feature 6

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 16, 2011, 6:44 PM
Anybody else catch the new trailer for The Thing? (Supposedly it's a prequel.) I'm not sure how much of a prequel, considering it looks exactly the same as the original 1982 film. I guess it's supposed to take place right before the original. Which accounts for all the similarities, such as the dog being present, the scientists using the flares and backpack flamethrowers, what have you. I still want to see it. There's still the wholesome KILL IT WITH FIRE principle going on.

Feels good to be able to put more art out there for people to see again. Decided to become part of the wave of people purchasing Blue Stahli's debut album half off, just got it in the mail yesterday. Unholy sweet Jesus, does it sound good. Even the 70th time through. Never loses the thunder.

Don't really have new ear candy other than The Glitch Mob. I haven't had enough time to wondrously discover new music from the obscure parts of the internets. Next week, though. Surely by then.

EDIT: Thanks to everybody for over 10K views on Didn't know it would be this popular.

To some, this might not seem like a major accomplishment. You're probably much better at playing shooters than I am.

I beat Uncharted 2 on Crushing. :iconirapeitplz: Yeah.

The wonderful elation experienced was offset a little bit by the fact that I got stuck on Lazervic's final fight probably a year ago when I played through Crushing the first time. But I finally did it. I feel fully prepared to play Uncharted 3 now. Not on Crushing, not at first. You play it on Normal first, that way you can still enjoy the story without getting uber-frustrated at gunfights that take 20 minutes to beat, after you've died a few times and quite nearly fused your controller with your knee or the wall, whichever you prefer to smash it against when you get killed.

:bulletred: Current Ear Candy :bulletred:

Puscifer - Lighten Up, Francis (JLE Dub Mix)
Everything Goes Cold - I've Sold Your Organs On The Black Market To Finance The Purchase Of A New Minivan
Limp Bizkit - Gold Cobra

Klayton from Celldweller will be streaming Chapter 4 of Wish Upon A Blackstar at 8 on his Ustream account. I can't wait. Thank God I'm on Eastern Time. Only about 45 more minutes.

EDIT: Go get Chapter 4 right now. Oh my God. That's all I can say. I Can't Wait and Gift For You are also on Celldweller's YouTube account.
I finally did something productive: brand new, shiny, nice-looking gallery folder icons. The old ones looked like crap, and some folders didn't even have icons. Well, everything does now. And I actually like them.

I realized I kinda stamp-bombed my gallery, though. They're just so addicting to make. I'll have to make a few more Blue Stahli/Celldweller ones. I hope that doesn't make me sound or appear like a stalker. :iconpedobearplz:
  • Listening to: Orgy - Slept So Long
  • Reading: George Orwell's 1984
. . . and other really uber-unhealthy junk foods.

Does anybody else find people to watch when they reply to comments? Everytime I start replying to things, it takes me forever to actually finish the job because I go through galleries if they catch my eye. I suppose this is a good thing for them. It just takes me a long time.

:bulletred: Anybody who remotely likes techno/electronic/industrial music - check one of these out. Please. Go help the starving artists.

Blue Stahli - ULTRAnumb
XXX Car Ride - Loathing Again
Kem Secksdiin - The Best Part About You
Nero Argento - Trust

They're all available on Fixt - one of the greatest sources of music I've ever found. You like Dubstep? Techno? House? Electronic Rock? Industrial? Or names like Tiesto, Skrillex, deadmau5, Celldweller? All those questions and many more can be answered there. It's like heaven. And my music discovery service for the last . . . I don't know, three or four weeks? Just good stuff.

My Prismacolors seem to all be fine after their trip in a bubble envelope. I've heard horror stories about people buying a set online and then opening a tin can full of worthless, broken pencils. I think mine are okay. After a few days of use, they haven't exploded or anything. That would be unfortunate.

See, this is the time I start missing my Premium status; I really liked using the journal skins. It looked so much nicer.

Getting sealant on your molars is a traumatizing experience. Thank God it's over. :iconoo-plz:

I'll be redoing my gallery folders in the next few days, so if it looks messier than normal, you'll know why. If it gets confusing to navigate, I'll apologize in advance.
  • Listening to: Celldweller - Shapeshifter
EDIT - Forgot to thank everyone for 8,000 pageviews.

I think I'm in a sort of artist block again. Well, I suppose I never really got out of the last one, but it was looking better.  Now I can't get things to come out okay, or I can't get things started. :( Super irritating. See, this is where somebody needs to invent a way to suck the willpower and energy from small, trouble-making children to use among the needing.

On a more positive note, I received an honorable mention from the art show I spent weeks pulling my hair out in feverish little clumps to glue to the wall with a paste made out of graphite shavings for. A hundo dollars. Prismacolor set money. I think the cat helped. Which continues to this day to collect :+fav:s, much to my surprise. Again, a continued thanks, if I can't thank each and every one of you personally.

I don't know. Maybe I'm not listening to enough techno. Supposedly music with ridiculously fast beats is supposed to stimulate your brain.

Anyone know any super fast techno?

I'll force some stuff out and see what happens. And I think I'll hold off commissions for now, unless they're uber-simple. But in the meantime, I think I'll play some Need For Speed. Now that PSN's back up, I might be able to get back in multiplayer.
  • Listening to: Blue Stahli - ULTRAnumb
I didn't expect Curiosity to be so popular. Just like bottle was. Thank you.

To everyone incoming to this page from wherever you might have come from, please be aware that I might not be able to thank you for every :+fav: you give. I will, however, try to reply to every comment left on either my page or on a deviation. Comments are especially nice, because we're all looking for feedback in the big blue world called Earth.

To everyone that has me on commission for tattoos, please be patient. I'm working through them one at a time to ensure the highest quality available.
  • Listening to: Moonlight Equilibrium - The Black Dahlia Murder
I think it'll be a long time before I ever draw anything uber-detailed with fur. A long time. I have an art show in about a week and a half, and this is the last weekend I have to finish the beastly project I started. I mean, I love my cat. I really do. But he has so much fur. And this is the first time I've ever drawn fur. So I'm learning how and trying to make it look good at the same time. Necessity is the mother of perfection, right? Good thing I'm OCD.

I know I've told most of the people who have currently commissioned me for tattoos, but for those of you who might catch this page first, I'll be busy during the next week. After I can finish the cat, thing's will go pretty smoothly. You're still welcome to ask me for a design, and by all means do. I just might get it done a little later than I usually do. But it'll get done.

If you find yourself wondering why I haven't replied to a comment you left a week ago, or perhaps longer, don't worry. After this weekend, I'll have more time to do things. Including answering comments and :+fav: notifications. I just have to watch how many I respond to at once, otherwise dA will think it's spam. Which is very irritating.

Music I've found in the last week that compares to/is greater than God:

Blue Stahli
Skrillex (I was already a fan, but his earlier stuff, pre My Name is Skrillex EP)
Pitchshifter
Remixes by Aggro1/Angels & Filth
Black Light Burns

Yes, I like filthy dubstep and techy metal.

Is it just me, or is there a trend toward everything new being released sounding exactly alike? That's my problem with metal now; either it sounds like crap, or it sounds like [insert band name here]. In some cases, that isn't a bad thing. Celldweller = Blue Stahli. I guess it doesn't help when you're sharing the same recording space. I'd do just about anything to get more Lamb Of God. Hit The Wall was a godsend, a gift from the blackened reaches of heavy metal heaven. With my luck, they won't release their next album until next year. I wouldn't be surprised.

Didn't it seem like music from the 90s was so much better?

EDIT - Kittens. - [link]
If there's any delay in thanking people for faves and watches, I apologize. I'll try to get to them all. I'm trying to finish a bunch of different projects for different people and different events. I'm sure you all know how that goes. :iconlll-plz:

For those with open music tastes or those who are still somewhat fans, check out Femme Fatale. I didn't like Circus, but Britney did a better job this time around. I guess the only thing I don't like is how all the songs, even the slower ones, sound the same. But the album has its moments.

Anyone notice how dA blocks your comments after awhile because it's supposedly spam? Irritating.
  • Listening to: Till The World Ends - Britney Spears
  • Reading: Angels and Demons - Dan Brown
  • Watching: Futurama
  • Playing: Heavy Rain
Extra Large hoodies still freaking shrink in the wash. My gorilla arms are still too long for regular hoodies.

It's been about a week now, and I must say, I liked being Premium. It was a lovely gift. Thanks is still in order for ~NinthLife. If only the weather would stop PMSing and get hormone therapy, life would be nice. I mean really nice; no surprise foot of snow in the morning once a week. And now Spring Break is almost over, and the portrait of my cat isn't done. :iconfacepalmplz:

I was hoping to start it and have it done in one week flat. Which, even for me, is a little enthusiastic. Just a little. I should have known better. And for all of you at home, you too can watch the progressive deanimalization of an obese feline. Check the links below. First time I've tried drawing fur, and it almost makes me want to peel off the dry skin on my arms with super glue heated over a pine-scented candle. Perhaps my arms would smell like pine, then. Or pine-glue.

I was also hoping to get Heavy Rain and finish it this week. Maybe, just maybe, it'll come tomorrow. I really liked eBay, too, they had faster shipping times than Amazon. Do you see a pattern here? Lots of things unfinished. :icondoublefacepalmplz:

A question for those of you more knowledgeable in the field of fixatives; which do you prefer for sealing works in pencil, glossy or matte fixative? I just bought a can of matte, hopefully it doesn't make my stuff look like crap.

God, Charlie Sheen is amazing.

Tool is also amazing. Not in the same tiger-blood, mental disease and psychosis way that Mr. Sheen is, but amazing nonetheless. Has anyone else noticed that Schism and Vicarious should alike? I hope I'm not the only one.
